2022 Cupra Formentor VZ5 Debuts With A 384hp Audi Turbo Five
Cupra will create only 7,000 units with deliveries expected in the late 2021.
What started as a model designator for the performance vehicles of Seat has now become a stand-alone performance brand under Volkswagen Group’s wing. Yes, we are talking about Cupra and its new offering Formentor. Meet the Cupra Formentor VZ5 that just debuted giving an option of Audi’s turbocharged five-cylinder mill and an all-wheel-drive crossover. Creating 384 horsepower, it becomes the Cupra’s most powerful vehicle yet.
The 2022 Cupra Formentor VZ5 rides on VW’s MQB architecture that houses the standard 300-hp turbocharged 2.0-liter EA888 four-cylinder engine also available in the VW Golf R.
On the other hand, the more powerful 384 hp five-cylinder is in the range of what it produces for the RS3, the TT-RS, and the RS Q3. The power goes to all the wheels via a seven-speed DSG twin-clutch transmission enabling it to hit 100 km/h in 4.2 seconds.
The standard facilities include big wheel arches and 20-inch wheels, a pair of double exhaust tailpipes, six-pot calipers at the front, massive 18-inch brake discs, an adaptive suspension, leather bucket seats, a central 12-inch touchscreen, and plenty of copper-shade detailing.
Cupra will create only 7,000 units of the Formentor VZ5 with deliveries expected in late 2021. It will not be available for the U.S. markets.
