2022 Honda HR-V Debuts in Europe, US Model Coming Later
The U.S.-spec HR-V should be here before the end of this year or in the early 2022.
Honda has launched the new HR-V in Europe and validated that the next-gen subcompact SUV will land in America soon. Although we do not know the differences yet, the European 2022 Honda HR-V gives us a good idea of the US-bound HR-V.
Honda stated, “The development of a successor to the Honda HR-V for the U.S. market is underway. This new HR-V will be designed to meet the distinct needs of U.S. customers and will differ from the Honda Vezel/HR-V that will be revealed on February 18 for other regions.” It means the 2022 Honda HR-V will get a new design and powertrains for the U.S. markets.
Talking about the new HR-V design, it is better looking and high-tech than the outgoing model. The good thing is it retains the same space for passengers and cargo as was available in the previous model, thanks to the magic seats that can fold flat into the floor. The dashboard looks clean and straightforward, having a tablet-style infotainment screen in the center.
For Europe, the HR-V comes with a two-motor hybrid powertrain similar to the one available for the Insight, CR-V, and Accord. The HR-V hybrid should also reach the U.S. shores, but it will not be a standard option. A traditional gasoline mill such as the turbocharged 1.5-liter inline-four we get in the Civic, CR-V, and Accord is highly likely. The U.S. HR-V will be a front-wheel-drive with an option of all-wheel.
The U.S.-spec HR-V should be here before the end of this year or in early 2022. We hope to receive it in the UAE in the later half of 2021.
