SSC Tuatara Will Soon Have its Little Brother
We can expect a comparable design and performance.
The 1,750 horsepower SSC Tuatara by Shelby SuperCars debuted in February this year and now the company has announced plans to produce a cheaper version of this hypercar. While talking to Top Gear magazine, SSC head honcho Jerod Shelby said it will be Tuatara’s “little brother”, so we can expect a comparable design and performance.
He said they want to create a model that is “scaled-down and priced in a range where a much larger portion of the population can purchase and enjoy it.” Jerod didn’t provide more details but we believe the company will produce it in larger numbers. The SSC Tuatara is limited to just 100 units.
Regarding the SSC’s plans to attempt the top speed record, Jerod said they have found an appropriate site and the right driver to accomplish their plans. To get the fastest production car crown, the Tuatara has to run past the 304.773 mph (490.484 km/h) speed attained by the Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+.
That said, the Chrion SS 300+ is not the top speed record holder technically because the car didn’t run in both directions. Therefore, the Koenigsegg Agera RS is still the official record top speed record holder with a two-run average of 277.9 mph (444.6 km/h).
