It is a serious offense, one that could add Dh400 fine and four black points to your license. Drivers are subject to tailgating on a regular basis, but now the culprits will be watched through a smart system by the authorities.
Abu Dhabi Police have started a traffic awareness campaign to curb the habit of tail-gating. In this regard, they will start sending out SMS to tailgaters from January 15. If they keep repeating this mistake, the violators will be fined as per Section 52 of the Traffic Control Rules and Procedures.
