Summer Safety Drive Highlights the Importance of Regular Tire Maintenance
All motorists are advised to regularly check their vehicle tires and never overload.
The Federal Traffic Council (FTC) has initiated Summer Safety Drive across the UAE to educate motorists on the consequences of not abiding by traffic laws, especially the use of worn-out tires. According to the Ministry of Interior (MoI), worn-out tires caused 785 accidents last year, which claimed 110 lives and left 1,133 people injured.
All motorists are advised to regularly check their vehicle tires and never overload, especially during summer months to avoid tire bursts.
The Summer Safety Drive will run until September 1 with the cooperation of traffic authorities and police patrols. Major-General Mohammad Saif Al Zafeen, Dubai Police assistant commander-in-chief and chairman of the FTC said, “Motorists should ensure the safety of their vehicles’ tires by checking them periodically.”
Al Zafeen urged motorists to follow traffic laws and be very careful with their vehicle tires. A regular weekly checkup can save drivers from troubles on the road. He also underlined the importance of not crossing the loading limit.
