Construction of the 2019 Aston Martin DB4 GT Zagato Continuation Starts
It will be ready in the third quarter of this year.
The British automaker has started the production of first Aston Martin DB4 GT Zagato Continuation car. A part of the Aston Martin DBZ Centenary Collection, it is being produced in Newport Pagnell, Buckinghamshire.
The original DB4 GT Zagato was produced in the 1960s to race against the great Ferraris where the automaker only produced 19 examples. The 2019 Aston Martin DB4 GT Zagato Continuation car, also limited to 19 units, is designed to give us the highest possible quality made possible through advanced engineering.
Under the hood, it will carry a “twin spark” straight-six cylinder engine generating 380 bhp. The power goes to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission.
After we get the GT Zagato Continuation Cars, the next vehicle in the series will be the most aspiring Aston Martin DB5 Goldfinger Edition, which will hit the market in 2020.
Paul Spires, President of Aston Martin Works, stated “We are bringing all of our hand-craftsmanship and expertise to bear in building these nineteen Continuation cars, sympathetically incorporating the very latest engineering advancements and performance enhancements, but remaining true to the purity and authenticity of the original design.
“After the unprecedented success of the DB4 GT Continuation cars, we are once again bringing to life in the 21st Century the stuff of Aston Martin folklore.”
Paul added: “Paired with the new beauty that is the stunning DBS GT Zagato, the DB4 GT Zagato Continuation cars that are being handcrafted here at Aston Martin Works are a unique and fitting celebration of the brand’s 60-year love affair with this unmatched Italian automotive style icon.”
The Aston Martin DB4 GT Zagato Continuation will be ready in the third quarter of this year while the DBS GT Zagato will reach in the fourth quarter of the next year. The DBZ Century Collection costs £6m plus taxes.
