Alfa Romeo Tonale Concept is Brand’s First Step to Electrification
The exterior is inspired by classics like the Duetto and Disco Volante Spider.
Alfa Romeo with their Tonale Concept utility vehicle has been the highlight of the 2019 Geneva International Motor Show. The mid-sized SUV is the brand’s entry into the realm of electrified vehicles. The Alfa Romeo Tonale Concept carries the spirit and heritage of the iconic brand while staying relevant to modern design principles.
As with all Alfa Romeo vehicles, the Tonale is designed according to the driver’s needs. The external design of the SUV pays homage to the rich history of Alfa Romeo. The 21-inch wheel dial has its roots in the 60s when it embellished the 33 Stradale.
Alfa asserts the exterior is inspired by classics like the Duetto and Disco Volante Spider while the Tonale’s ‘Linea GT’ is a testament to the memorable GT Junior. The distinctive Scudetto grille at the front is to remind us all about the glorious history of the brand.
As far as the interior is concerned, the Tonale features hand-drawn gesture lines stretching throughout the interior to create a visceral experience for the occupants. The interior elements are made out of aluminum combined with leather and Alcantara. The driver is given access to Alfa Romeo’s very own social network called Alfista as well as in-car marketplace called Paddock.
The Alfa Romeo Tonale Concept is equipped with the same “DNA” drive-mode selector as their current line of cars but with subtle changes. Instead of dynamic, the car has a dual power mode that generates power from the internal combustion engine and the electric motor. Moreover, the “Natural” is the default setting, while the Advance Efficiency is changed to Advance E, for excellent performance in the all-electric mode.
