Audi e-Tron GT Concept Dropped Like a Bomb at LA Auto Show
We also came to know that the sports car will appear in the upcoming Avengers 4 movie.
The Audi e-Tron GT concept car hit the floors of 2018 LA Auto Show and stunned the audience because nobody was expecting it. The four-door coupe is undeniably one of the best looking cars the German automaker ever produced. Perhaps, the automaker listened to the criticism of Federal Minister of Economic Affairs and Energy Peter Altmaier who said, “I really wonder when you, Mr. Zetsche, or you, Mr. Diess, or Mr. Krüger of BMW will be able to build an electric car that is only half as sexy as one Tesla.” The introduction of this proves Audi’s desire to offer an EV for everyday use. We also came to know that the sports car will appear in the upcoming Avengers 4 movie.
Audi wants to bring 12 EVs by 2025 and plans to make e-Tron GT its flagship. Audi design boss Mark Lichte said that the electric sports car is nearly production-ready. “This is a metal sheet body already, and you can imagine how close it is with a metal sheet body,” Lichte stated during a discussion at the LA show. There will be slight changes in the design and the production version of the Audi e-Tron GT concept will be shown sometime in 2020.
Sharing its platform with the Porsche Taycan, Audi confirms it will offer the power of 590 horses, which will take the car to 100 km/h in just 3.5 seconds. The top speed stands at 250 km/h. The 96-kWh battery pack will render around 400 km of range.
“We started working on the e-Tron (GT) two years ago…when I first saw the Taycan. And we thought about what if we use this platform and do an Audi version on top of it without sharing detail in the exterior or interior,” Lichte stated.
Both the Taycan and Audi e-Tron GT concept would drive and look differently. In fact, the only details they will both share is the windshield. The e-Tron GT will hit the roads sometime in 2020 for the 2021 model year.
