2019 BMW 8 Series Coupe Enters Production in Germany
It will go on sale in the third quarter of 2018.
BMW has started the production of the brand-new 2019 BMW 8 Series Coupe at the company’s Germany factory in Dingolfing. The coupe was revealed before the Le Mans 24-hour race last month. BMW has invested millions of euros to enhance the facility. As a result, the plant now has automated robots that carry parts from one end of the factory to another reducing the need for manual labor. The robots even check for any irregularities in production at the end of the assembly line.
This most advanced treatment was necessary to create a dominating car. BMW hopes to ace the coupe segment with the help of a 4.4-liter dual turbocharged V8 engine. This engine makes 523 horsepower and 553 lb-ft of torque while being teamed up with an 8-speed automatic transmission that takes power primarily to the rear-wheels but all-wheel drive is also supported.
The coupe is extremely lightweight with a curb weight of 4,478 pounds. BMW achieved this by using a mixture of materials including aluminum, steel, carbon-fiber and even plastic. The 8 Series coupe accelerates from naught to 60 mph in 3.6 seconds and can attain a top speed of 155 mph.
Customers would have to wait for the pricing details of the 2019 BMW 8 Series. It will go on sale in the third quarter of 2018.
