2019 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter to Grace the Company’s Van Lineup
It will also come in an all-electric version dubbed eSprinter
Mercedes-Benz revealed its latest van range, the new 2019 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter on Tuesday. The Sprinter has been revamped and improved inside out.
Upfront, the headlights are slim and stretched out and the front grill has been narrowed. The Sprinter takes inspiration from the 2016 Vision Van concept with its smooth and aerodynamic exterior finish.
Inside, the dashboard sports a 10.25-inch infotainment screen which can be paired with Mercedes-Benz’ latest MBUX technology. Also joining the list of hi-tech equipment is the Mercedes PRO Connect, which lets owners keep track of their vans, diagnose fuel and oil levels and other mechanical operations, along with numerous driving aids.
The 2019 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter will also come in an all-electric version dubbed eSprinter, which will be introduced in 2019. The engine specs for the non-electric van can vary depending on the market but it is confirmed that the US will only get the RWD and AWD versions. Customers will be provided two transmission options; a 6-speed manual and a 9-speed automatic.
Since the Sprinter is a van, customers will especially look for cargo space. The Sprinter delivers 600 cubic feet of loading space which can hold cargo of up to 12,000 pounds. The 170-inch wheelbase for the RWD and 154-inch for the FWD allow exceptional stability to the vehicle.
Further details about the utility vehicle, which will likely be built in Mercedes-Benz’s new South Carolina factory, will be released later this year.
