Tesla Model 3 Clocks 60 mph in just 4.66 Seconds
Tesla promised 0 to 60 mph acceleration in 5.1 seconds.
We all know that Tesla’s bragging about its insane car speeds isn’t a gimmick. Surely, we have seen a Model S P100D with Ludicrous Plus mode jump to 60 mph in just 2.27 seconds, which made it the fastest accelerating car in the world. For Model 3, Tesla promised 0 to 60 mph acceleration in 5.1 seconds, which is still very quick for a small electric sedan with rear-wheel drive.
To check the accuracy of the Tesla’s claim DragTimes conducted a test employing a VBOX data logger and a 75-kilowatt-hour Long Range battery, plus the Premium Upgrade Package. Interestingly, the Model 3 did better reaching 60 mph in 4.66 seconds and completing quarter-mile in 13.3 seconds at 103 mph.
This is really fascinating considering Tesla will be offering all-wheel-drive Model 3 by the end of this year, which obviously make the acceleration better. Not to mention, Tesla is also looking to develop Model 3 performance models.
Currently, Tesla is building the Model3 with the Long Range battery ($9,000) and Premium Upgrade Package ($5,000), which offers around 310 miles of range (EPA). The normal version with 50-kWh battery renders an EPA-estimated range of 220 miles.
