Toyota Self-Driving Tech Progressing Fast
Toyota is going to build two systems namely Chauffeur system and Guardian system.
Toyota has been working silently on its autonomous tech and has made steady progress, as it has created a car that can see up to 660-feet in all directions. Toyota self-driving tech will be showcased at next week’s 2018 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.
This will be Toyota’s third-generation prototype which uses four lidar sensors to cover 360-degree view. The new Toyota self-driving tech not only appears more attractive but is also more practical to build self-driving cars.
Toyota is going to build two systems namely Chauffeur system and Guardian system. The former will be rendering complete autonomy while the later would allow motorists to drive the way they want. However, if the motorist gets into trouble, the system will take over.
Though automakers like BMW, Ford, Hyundai, and Volkswagen are positive to bring Level 4 self-driving cars in the market by 2021, Toyota is still silent. Last year, Toyota did say they will display their self-driving system during 2020 Olympic Games that will take place in Tokyo.
