Sharjah Municipality has been working on multi-storey car parks for quite some time and we have come to know that 70% of the work is now complete. The Municipality is building multi-storey car parks in Al Majza 1, Al Majaz 2 and Al Qasimiya areas, all boasting a ground floor and seven upper floors.
The car parks are being built on international standards offering complete security and safety along with facilities for special people.
Thabet Al Tarifi, director general of Sharjah Municipality said, “Parking lots were being established to facilitate the smooth flow of vehicles in the surrounding areas while preventing snarl-ups in the streets.”
So far, around 800 car parking slots have been built at a cost of Dh21 million, and soon motorists will be able to buy parking tickets and recharge/renew their parking stickers/cards.
The residents have welcomed this initiative who have to spend a lot of time to find parking spaces and pay extra money, which adds burden to their monthly expenditure.
A few months back, the government offered paid parking zones in Sharjah.
