Abu Dhabi Police Announces New Rules For Towing Vehicles
Without safety equipment installed, motorists won’t be able to register new cars.
Abu Dhabi Police has declared new specifications for towing vehicles in the Emirate to make roads safer and eliminate serious accidents, which happen when automobiles hit the towing vehicle’s sharp rear ends. The new rules require all towing vehicles and recovery trucks to feature a rear safety bumper, a protection rubber at the rear edge and a reflector sticker.
Brigadier Ali Khalfan Al Dhahiri, Director of Central Operations Department at Abu Dhabi Police, talked about the significance of the new rules for towing vehicles, which would make commuting safer than before. He said, Abu Dhabi Police is keen to adopt new safety standards, so motorists feel safe while driving.
Lt. Col. Saif Salem Al Mazrouei, Director of the Licensing Department in Al Zafra region, shed more light what the towing vehicles must have to avoid any penalty. According to him, the vehicles must have safe rear bumper with good-quality rubber protector at the rear edge, a warning triangle, a reflective sticker, orange warning lights and a warning alarm.
Without these safety equipment installed, motorists won’t be able to register new cars. Moreover, the licenses for old cars won’t be renewed. So, better to act now!
