Hyperloop Rail System to connect Dubai and Abu Dhabi
An agreement has been signed between the RTA (Roads and Transport Authority) and Hyperloop One, previously known as Hyperloop Technologies, to build a high speed Hyperloop Rail system to connect Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Once completed, the passengers will be able to travel to Abu Dhabi from Dubai in just 12 minutes.
The deal was signed by Director General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of RTA Mattar Al Tayer and Rob Lloyd, who is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Dubai Future Foundation and also the CEO of Hyperloop One.
The project will also focus on testing the feasibility of high speed transport from Dubai to other cities. If the technology is found feasible, RTA intends to revolutionize the world of transportation and logistics.
The system consists of small self-driving cars with hyperloop technology. In the start, the Hyperloop Rail system will let commuters travel small distances only. The same technology will be used to travel larger distances in the future, with speeds reaching to an astonishing 1,200 km per hour.
Both companies believe that the new mode of transport will have positive effects on urban planning in the coming future.
